''Underworld'' (''Selene'') (2003)

 The Principle character of the series of ''Underworld'' Films (2003 to 2016), Selene (portrayed by Kate Beckinsale) was once a Human who lived in 14th Century (AD) Hungary. As a Child, Her entire Family was murdered (as it was made to appear) by a Race of Werewolves known as ''Lycans''. In reality, The Lycan mortal Enemies, Vampires orchestrated their deaths. Their Leader, Viktor (wishing to replace His own daughter) gave Selene the chance to avenge their deaths, by ''turning'' Her into a member of His Coven. Selene took on the role of ''Death Dealer''. These are Vampire Guardians who protect their own kind in an eternal war against The Lycan threat. She is physically strong as a result of Her vampiric nature, an expert at weapons and small unit tactics and is somewhat of a ''Hero'' among Her People. Selene learns (through the course of The Films), the true nature of Her Human Family's death and the real reason behind The Vampire/Lycan War. The ''Underworld'' Film series was among the first (including the ''Blade'' Film Series), that portrayed Vampires in a type of ''Super-Anti Hero'' Genre.
