An ''Uli'' was a hand-carved, wooden Funerary Figurine, found in some New Zealand and Northern Pacific Island Cultures and Tribes. Extremely detailed in design and varying in size, The Uli was seen as a ''Spirit House'' for various Family Deities. These were invoked both for ''Protection of The Dead'' and appeasement (to ensure a Spirit did NOT come back to pester a Family). Some Uli were designed as Fertility Fetish and dedicated to those relative Gods. The Uli were carved with both forms of Human genitalia present.
