In Aztec (Mesoamerica) Mythology – ‘’Tzitzimime’’ was a ‘’Demon Deity’’ associated with the ‘’calamities of The Cosmos’’. These were perceived as ‘’Shooting Stars’’ (meteorites), Comets and other astronomical events. These were seen as Tzitzimime attempting to destroy The Earth and The Aztec Peoples. Seen as an Enemy to The Great God Quetzacoatl, Tzitzimime found a way to ‘’hitch a rde’’ on a Comet and ‘’ride it down to Earth’’. Quetzacoatl was able to stop Him, by splitting Him into two halves, each ‘’burning up’’ in The Sky. His bones fertilized The Maguey Plant, which was distilled as a highly alcoholic drink used in many Aztec Ceremonies.
