Another unique piece of Mythos from Native American Culture – in particular The Anishinaabe Tribe of The Upper American Northwest and Lower Canada, The Legend of The ‘’Turkey Tailfeather Woman’’ is key to many Tribal Religions. According to Myth, She was captured by either British or American Soldiers during War. Praying to The ‘’Great Buffalo’’ for help, She promised to build in His honor a great ‘’Spirit Drum’’. Able to make Her way to freedom, Turkey Tailfeather Woman followed thru on Her pledge. She built a great Drum, by which all Medicine Men used to initiate ‘’Spirit Dances’’ – known today as ‘’Pow Wows’’. As then, a copious amount of Turkey feathers are used to decorate the Drum selected, in Her honor.
