''Law and Justice'' were personified in Ancient Greece by The Goddess ''Themis''. Zeus' ''2nd Wife'', She was most commonly shown in Art as a Noblewoman, bearing a pair of weight scales. This was seen as being used to ''measure'' the merits of Law (by virtue of evidence or deed, to establish Justice). Her Cult dates to 8th Century BC Greece. Adopted into Ancient Rome as well, that Culture began to place blindfolds over the Icon's eyes, to show that Themis was blind to both graft and bride and only ''saw'' the ''Merits of Justice''. By the early 19th Century AD – Themis was be adopted into ''The Lady of Justice'', a common Icon/Statue found in many National Courts throughout The World.
