Louisville, Kentucky (US), has many historical attractions for Visitors to see. IF one is inclined to The Paranormal though, perhaps of interest is ''The Witches Tree''. Located on the corner of twin major Streets, is a foreboding, 60-foot Oak Tree. Per local Legend, of which no actual historical documentation sadly still exists – three Women were condemned and hung as Witches in the late 18th Century. Before they died, The Witches placed a curse on The Tree. IF anyone tried to cut down The Tree, or otherwise ''disrespect'' it, THAT person would be cursed to suffer thru Life. As time went by, Homes and Streets would go up and come down. But, regardless of weather or man-made events, The Tree will not die and not fall (despite several floods and violent windstorms). Further, in the 1880s, it was said that a ''scoffer'' went by The Tree, and spit on it. He died within 24-hours, being struck by a coal cart. Since, it is always advised to never ''spit or laugh'' at the now gnarled and decaying Tree. Botanists have no clue as to just why the Tree is even still alive, as most of it is quite dead and not growing. One would image The City Administrators would cut down the menacing Oak. To date, even they are ''wary'' to harm The ''Witches Tree''.
