William Schaffner was a US Air Force Captain, assigned to The English Royal Air Force (Exchange Program), in September 1970. Assigned to RAF Binbrook, He was the Intercept Officer On Duty . At around 8 P.M. - Radar detected a strange Object flying near The North Sea. Dispatched to scramble, he took off in his British Lighting XS894 Jet Fighter. Schaffner was tracked intercepting the Object. He reported a glowing Light to his front at around 20,000 feet. That was the last anyone heard from Captain Schaffner. After a 3-week search (involving Air and Sea vessels, Sonar detected his Fighter at the bottom of The Ocean. It was in remarkable condition. The Pilot's canopy was still sealed. However, Schaffner's body was NOT inside and was never recovered. His Fighter was. It was examined and no documents or explanation were ever released as to why (or what made it go down.
