Reported in 1837 in The Navidad River Bottoms, of Texas The Wild Man (as it was called then), was possibly one of the first widely reported Bigfoot-type creatures in America. Seen near Sublime, Texas the beast was seen at nighttime, trying to seal chickens from a local Farmer. When confronted (the Farmer thought it as a Coyote), he was faced with a 6 foot, hairy humanoid creature. It was said to have a human face . The Wild Man was also said to sport 2 boar-like tusks from the sides of it's mouth! On and off throughout the Region, The Wild Man was reported (always attempting to steal it's meal (continuing up to the 1850s). Many felt that the beast was an unkempt Runaway Slave. Oddly, the few footprints seen and reported were measured at 12-inches long! Stories continued after The American Civil War (as far as the 1920s). Since then, The Wild Man is no longer seen.
