Actually, The Wopsononock Mountain – is a geological feature near the Town of Altoona, Pennsylvania (US). Known locally as ''Wopsy Mountain'', it's whimsical name forebodes a dark Ghost Tale from the 1800s. As the local legend states, a Family (Husband, Wife and Infant), were traveling don a particularly steep grade of The Mountain called ''The Devil's Elbow''. Snow and ice covered the trail. What caused them to lose control is lost to time, but their wagon lost control and tumbled over the side of The Mountain. In the horrible crash, The Husband was crushed and killed instantly. However, the Wife and Baby were thrown clear.

When The Wife awoke, she found the wreckage and Her dead Husband. However, She could not find Her Baby. She searched in vain in was said, for neither Her or the Child were found. Since then, tales arose of ''seeing'' the distraught Woman throughout The Wopsy Mountain area. Sometimes, ''She'' is seen as a ''full form'', wearing a White Dress and wandering along the road. Looking distressed, it was common for some who didn't believe the tale to stop and offer help. As soon as one did however – the ''Woman'' would simply vanish. Other variation of The ''White Lady'', is that if a car stops and offers Her a ride, She will enter your car. IF you look into your rear view mirror – you will NOT see Her. Should you turn around (physically), you will still find Her in your backseat (shortly before She vanishes for good). She is never malicious in intent and as the story goes – She is simply trying to ''find'' Her ''lost'' Child.
