Culloden. The location of the final and epic battle of The Jacobite Rebellion of 1745. In April of 1746, a British Force of close to 10,000 engaged The Highland Clans of Scotland (close to 5,000), at Culloden, Scotland. The large and pastoral fields were used by Tenant Farmers to graze Their livestock. It was on this field that the hopes of a Scottish Claimant for King of England would be dashed. 2,000 odd Highlanders fell. Littering Culloden with bodies of the wounded and dying. Revered by Scotsmen as a National Shrine, Culloden Battlefield is one of the most visited by International Tourists. And plainly, it is perhaps one of the most haunted battlefields in Europe. MANY reports of various paranormal events and experiences have be made. Almost immediately upon walking the field – regardless of being a ‘’Believer’’ or ‘’Skeptic’’, One can ‘’feel’’ the presence of ‘’something’’……MANY ‘’somethings’’.
The Battlefield holds the remains of many of those who fell at Culloden. Gathered up and mass buried in Cairns (pits covered with rocks), the very ‘’energy’’ of the location is palpable. Photographs of it’s now beautiful and quiet countryside (even during the day), will reveal ‘’Orbs’’ and strange ‘’spectral mists’’ appearing (even with modern digital equipment). But perhaps one of the most disturbing spots at Culloden is a section called ‘’The Well of The Dead’’. After the Scottish debacle, many of the wounded crawled to a rough, hand-hewn stone enclosure over a long dried water source (well). Many of the dying soldiers tried to get a last sip of cool water before they passed on. The very ground was stained by the many puddles of pooling blood. Some say some even feel into the Well. The feelings of dread and pain are VERY real for some when They approach The Well.
