A metaphysical Belief common in Ancient Egyptian Funerary Ceremonies – The ''Weighing of The Heart'' was a Ceremony conducted in The Afterlife. The Spirit (Ka) was resurrected in ''physical form'' as it was on Earth. The Spirit would be judged by Anubis and sometimes by the Assessors of Maat. The Human Heart was ''taken'' from the body (again in a meta physical perspective) – and set upon a ''Great Scale''. The counter weight was ''Goodness as bestowed by Ra'' (Human Nature). IF a Heart was ''not pure'', but tainted by a lifetime of ''cruelty and evil doing'' – it was judged ''unworthy''. The Spirit was ''cast down'' into ''torment by Ammit and His Minions'' (Egyptian ''Hades''). Should only a ''small amount of evil'' been done in life, a simple ''purging'' (remittance) was made. This allowed The Spirit to ''carry on'' it's Journey. Celebrated in Temple Funerary Art, The Ceremony was a foundation in Ancient Egyptian Afterlife Beliefs thru most of it's early History.
