According to The Native American Cherokee Tribal Beliefs, The ‘’Water Spider’’ was a Spiritual Creationist Deity which was responsible for all Life on Earth. The ‘’Giant Arachnid’’ made all things in The Universe, by spinning Her ‘’web’’ (which formed The Planets, Stars and Sun). Once Earth was made, The Cherokee believe that they were too created from the Water Spider’s webbing. They were placed on Her back an brought to Earth. Hence, The Cherokee see themselves as ‘’First Humans’’. Spiders are somewhat revered on Cherokee Religion for this reason.
