On what was to be a leisurely private Plane flight over Warren, Ohio, turned out to be anything but that. The Close Encounter happened on July 8, 1968 and has today, never been explained. Pilots Richard and Ken Montgomery and two additional passengers were flying in a Cessna Skyhawk at roughly 4,000-feet. It was around 10:20pm and The Craft was in constant contact with Air Control on the ground. The Pilot noted a bright light coming towards them from the Southeast. Think it another aircraft, he radioed Ground Control for a Vector (new course). The Air Traffic Controllers readily identified the other Object and confirmed it s flight path.
Within seconds the Light became brighter and closer until it was quite literally on top of them . All on board The Plane remarked that the Object appeared to be "circular", 16-feet in diameter and no more than 200-feet from their Craft. Panicking, the Pilot tried to evade The Object. Any attempts to contact Ground Control were met with nothing but static. After some minutes, The Object began to fall back and trail The Plane. It followed them for several miles and then just as quickly as it appeared, it flew off at blinding speed . Suddenly, the Plane s radio sparked back to life. Upon landing, The Pilot reported the encounter. Although the contact was recorded with Ground Control, all evidence of same has disappeared (misplaced is the official reason). However, many Witnesses on the ground did report to local Police and Fire the strange light that seemed to be following what appeared to be a small Airplane.
