Like 1972s Amicus Film Productions Hit ‘’Tales From The Crypt’’ – it’s follow-up ‘’The Vault of Horror’’ (1973), was based on The American Pulp Horror Comics of the 1950s. A ‘’rival’’ to ‘’Crypt’’, the Film features an anthology of Horror Tales, starring well known names from British Cinema. Beginning with a Group of ‘’Gentlemen’’ at Their ‘’Club’’, They decide it’s time to go home. The 5 enter the Building Elevator to do down to the Parking Garage, only to find Themselves in a ‘’strange marble room’’. Drinks standing by, the ‘’confused’’ Men begin to relate to each other Their past ‘’woes’’. As it turns out, these are the Film’s ‘’Tales’’. From Vampires living in a ‘’secret’’ Village away from Humans, to an obsessive Man who constantly chastises His Wife for being ‘’messy’’, to a cursed Fakir Rope trick – and two other stories, The Men soon learn that They are in fact – all DEAD. The Tales they spun were what happened to Them in Life. The Group re-boards The Elevator – only to have it open up to a Graveyard. The Group leaves, vanishing as They walk away. Well done for the typical 1970s Anthology Horror Genre – ‘’The Vault of Horror’’ is a classic piece – well worth seeing!
