Richard Chase earned His nickname ‘’The Vampire of Sacramento’’ based on His criminal activities – which included Murder, Blood Drinking, Cannibalism and Necrophilia. Early diagnosed with all components (when young), and having ‘’severe psychotic issues’’, Chase tortured animals regularly and engaged in acts of ‘’self deprivation’’. He left Home at 18 years (mid-1970s) and moved into an Apartment with Roommates. These ‘’friends’’ reported (later), that in addition to heavy drug use – Chase ‘’felt’’ He had every known ailment a Human could contract (he didn’t). He regularly wandered around His Apartment totally nude and even ‘’felt’’ His Skull bones had separated and were in constant ‘’motion’’. His Roommates naturally moved out.
Chase began to capture small animals and chopping them up – ‘’blended’’ them in a Blender with Coca Cola. Chase drank the noxious substance – thinking it would keep His heart from ‘’shrinking’’. But it was when Chase tried to inject Himself with Rabbit Blood, that he ended up in a Hospital Emergency Room. Doctors quickly determined Chase had ‘’mental issues’’ and had Him confined for a period of observation. His Nursing Staff gave Him the nickname ‘’Dracula’’ because all Chase spoke of was ‘’drinking blood’’. Chase was evaluated and placed on heavy psychotic drugs. His Mother came forward and served as ‘’home stability’’. But Chase’s Mother began to ‘’ween’’ Chase off the prescribed medicines. That was all it took.
Chase left His Mother’s Home and got His own apartment again. Around 1977, Chase (while driving around The City of Sacramento, California) – shot and killed a passerby from a vehicle He was driving. Several weeks later, Chase attempted several times to break into several apartments which were occupied. He failed. It was His third attempt, that Chase was successful. He attacked the occupant (a pregnant woman). Murdering Her while he raped Her repeatedly), Chase chopped up the Victim and ‘’drank her blood’’. Chase would Murder as many as (6) people (Men and Women) between 1977 and 1979. Most of His Victims were not only drained of blood (syringed) – but Chase began to ‘’chop up’’ His Victims – ‘’consuming them’’ at His leisure later at Home. He would eventually be caught near Federal Land by Agents, who found Chase ‘’running thru Federal Property’’ – nude, but covered in ‘’blood’’ (which was later determined to be animal). When questioned Chase readily ‘’told His Story’’. Convicted of (6) Homicides (to include Mayhem), Chase was sentenced to death (which California overturned to Life Imprisonment). Chase would die of a prescription drug overdose in a State Prison, in 1980.
