The Ancient Thracian image called ''The Thracian Horseman'' is an Icon portraying a ''Mounted Warrior'', at the ''Charge''. While not a Deity, it was seen as the personification of a ''Warrior's Courage'' and was, in Ancient Greece known as a ''Herros''. This term would serve as genesis for the word ''Hero''. The Icon may have been used as a type of ''Grave Marker'' to identify a Warrior deemed worthy of the Title. It may also have been a form of inspiration for those going to War. The use of The Thracian Horseman was first used around the 3rd Century BC.
