This was the Sword which was (allegedly) used by the Apostle Peter - to ''cut off the Ear'' of one of the Soldiers who had come to arrest Jesus Christ (as related in The Gospels). A wide tipped weapon (similar to a Dussack Sword), it is 27 inches long. Consistent with the type of weapons used in early 2nd/3rd Century B.C. Judea - it's authenticity had been hotly debated for centuries. Many feel that the Sword is a 10th Century ''forgery''. First appearing in 968 A.D. - it was given as a gift to The Archdeacon of Poznan Cathedral (Poland). An exact copy was made for Pope Stephen VII (although it ended up going to Pope John XXII due to Stephen's unexpected death). According to English Legend, Joseph of Arimathea supposedly brought St. Peter's Sword to England (where it ended up in the possession of St. George!). The Sword of St. Peter is currently still kept in Poznan, Poland.
