A Sci-Fi/Horror/Fantasy Novel from 1978 – Horror Writer and Terror ''Maven'' Stephen King penned this tale of a Global Pandemic which devastated The World. The ''Super Flu'' (known as ''Captain Tripps''), had a 98% mortality rate. Manufactured in a Government Laboratory (Germ Warfare) in The United States – The Novel shows that only a small percent of people ''miraculously'' survive. These people are classed into two types – The ''Good'' and The ''Evil''. The Good are ''guided'' by a mysterious figure known as ''Mother Abigail'' – while The Evil are controlled by one Randall Flagg (or ''The Dark Man''). In essence, the story details the which class will survive (or a take on The Biblical Prophecy of God or The Devil). In 1994, an epic US TV Miniseries was produced which garnered record numbers over the week it was shown (2-Hour installments, over 4-Nights). A stellar Acting Cast, eerie music and great production values, ''The Stand'' would go on to become one of American Television's most watched ''pastimes'' in the 1990s. Revamped by King in 2020 as a Streaming Miniseries, this version was greatly different than it's previous version. It did get some critical acclaim (again with a well known Cast), but for some – fell somewhat flat. The original 1994 Version is highly recommended despite it's length.
