This haunting Case is a classic piece of "Ghost Photo" evidence. This 1924 story centers around The S.S. "Waterton" - an Oil Tender/Cargo Ship. Traveling from New York thru The Panama Canal, the Vessel was stopped to allow for cleaning of several oil tanks. Two Seamen were assigned the task. Somehow, they were trapped inside the tank, and suffocated to death on the fumes. Finally discovered hours later, it was determined by the Captain that they would be buried at sea (whereas there was no cold storage to preserve the bodies for the long return journey). This was when "things" began happening. Crewmen reported hearing "banging" noises and "muffled cries" for help coming from the oil tanks! When checked, no one was there. Soon objects on the Ship began to go either missing or were found moved mysteriously to different locations on the Ship. The Captain put into New Orleans, Louisiana for Insurance purposes (having to document the scene of the Seamen's death by photographing the tanks and surrounding location).

The Insurance Adjuster arrived with his Photographer. A series of photos were taken and later developed. To the shock of the Photographer, the clear images if two "faces" could be seen in pictures taken of the inside of the oil tanks and from the outside of the ship! Many years later, the photos were examined. No evidence of trickery has yet to have been found. As a postscript to the tale, the Ship continued to experience Poltergeist activities until it was eventually scrapped just prior to WW II.
