In 1877, (as if The Cardiff Giant didn't get your attention, back then) comes the story of The Solid Muldoon . Unearthed in Beulah, Colorado (US), it was purportedly the petrified remains of a 7 (almost 8 foot tall human - perfectly preserved). Discovered by William Muldoon, it was billed as The Solid Man (see the name connection ) Believe it or not, the entire story was yet another attempt by George Hull (of Cardiff Giant fame) to yet again dupe The Public. Although this version was much more realistic looking. Still undeterred by Hulls attempt to sue him over The Cardiff Giant, Showman P.T. Barnum (believe it or not) offered $20,000 (USD) for The Solid Muldoon (claiming he knew it must be a fake, but impressed that people would pay to see it). Again Hull said it was not for sale. The American Public appreciated the joke this time but did not buy into it as they did before. It vanished from Public view and to this day no one knows what happened to The Solid Muldoon.
