The Shrew's Fiddle

Similar in theory to The Stocks,  The ''Shrew's Fiddle'' was a portable device. Made from wood (in two joined components), it was in the shape of an oversized Violin (hence it's name). Developed for "Nagging Wives", the head of the Female was placed into the large opening at the top of the device. Her hands were placed in two smaller holes just underneath (in a prayer position). The device would be then secured. The offender would have to wear the device for a prescribed period of time (from a Magistrate). The husband STILL had to go home with her!
