The Shock

Sometimes simply referred to as a "Shock", (and later a "Fright"), these were evil or malevolent Spirits who took the form of a simple Donkey. They would wander the back woods of Medieval England. Looking as a "stray", and owing to the fact that a Donkey was a valuable animal then, an unsuspecting Human would be lured off into the woods by "The Shock". Revealing it's true form (said to be so horribke, one's hair would turn White), their visage could stop a person's heart. The Shock would proceed to devour their "fresh" meal at this point. Their was no known defense against a Shock, save totally ignoring them in their animal "form". Some later Mythologists state "The Shock" was a way to curb Poaching.
