The Shield of El Cid

Along with His many Legendary Battle Blades, famed Spanish Knight Rodrigo Diaz (aka ''El Cid'') was reputed to carry a magical War Shield. Made of Silver, it bore the image of a Golden Dragon and Black Christian Cross. It was said that when El Cid raised his Shield before his Moorish Enemies, they were “confounded” with fright. A Shield reportedly being the same is displayed with El Cid's other famed weapons and Armor. However, most agree that this was an 18th Century copy (which bears an image of El Cid on Horseback). The original's fate is unknown.
