The thoroughly creepy 1977 Horror Flick ''The Sentinel'', was based on the 1974 Book of the same Title. An International Bestseller, the Film cashed in on the growing ''Devil'' and ''Possession'' Genre put in play by Warner Brothers Studios ''The Exorcist''. A rather well-made ''B''-ish Film of ''Drive-In Movie Fare, it stared an unusual amount of very well known Stars of The ''Big'' and ''Small'' Screen (and some that would be). The Title reflects the name of a secretive Church Religious Order, tasked with ''guarding The Entrance to The Gates of Hell''. In this case, ''Hell'' is located in The American New York City, over an old Brownstone (Apartment). Our Heroine, A Print and TV Model, suffered from an abusive Father when young. So bad in fact, She tried to take Her own Life Trying to adjust in adult life, she moves into The Brownstone, and meets an assortment of even weirder Elderly people. Turns out that the Apartment DOESN”T have any Resident save The Model and a ''recluse'' Priest who is constantly ''staring out The Window of the very top Apartment''. It will turn out that Our Heroine is selected to replace The Priest as ''Sentinel'', after a very scary (unnerving) ''battle with The Demons living there (who were in fact masquerading as the previous reported Residents. Good scares, passing effects, ''The Sentinel'' is a must see and will ''pleasantly'' SCARE you – even for being an older Film.
