The 5th such ‘’Dracula’’ Film released by British Hammer Film’s – 1970s ‘The Scars of Dracula’’ is unique in several points. While Warner Brother Films (in America), was the primary release agent to American Audiences, it always promoted the Films a s ‘’PG’’ (allowing Teenagers to see it). ‘’Scars’’ featured too much blood and sex and as such, was rated ‘’R’’ (or Restricted). Hence, Warner Brothers passed on distribution. EMI Films took it (still as an ‘’R’’ Film). This meant that it’s viewership was greatly decreased and as such did not fare well at the Box Office. Also, ‘’Scars’’ was one of the very few Dracula Films that Christopher Lee ACTUALLY had lines and performed various ‘’action scenes’’. But the main issue with ‘’Scars’’ for Fans – was it completely broke with previous films and for future ones a s well. Many Film Critics felt that ‘’Scars’’ was Hammer’s attempt to reboot the Franchise, owing to Lee’s utter contempt for the role (fearing they would have to recast another for The Count – later).

The Plot……Dracula’s powdered remains end up in a coffin, in a castle….without any reason as to why and how. Suddenly, a large Bat appears over His remains and vomits up blood (splashing onto the powder). Dracula’s remain begin to form back into The Count once more. Fully alive (again), The Count recruit the typical ‘’Vampire Slave’’ and sets about killing the local Townspeople (even planning on His next ‘’Bride’’). However, the unfortunate Lass has a Boyfriend who battles The Count. This time, Dracula get impaled by an iron spike which – catches a flash of lightning. Electrocuted, ‘’Old Drac’’ goes up in fire and smoke……………Copies of ‘’The Scars of Dracula’’ are actually quite rare to find on any Media, but older version DVDs and Streaming Services still can find some copies.
