From the 12/13th Century, The Saw was another of History's most gruesome implements of Torture and Death. A Victim (having been convicted of everything from Sedition to Witchcraft)  had His or Her hands tied behind his back. Legs spread at shoulder length, they would be hoisted upwards (attached to a Hangman's Brace). Raised off the ground 4 feet, the Victim awaited the "next phase". Two Administrators would take a two-handled saw and place the blade between the legs. Next, the ''sawing'' would commence. While still alive (for a time), the Victim would be cut in two. This method was effective as a psychological practice for those awaiting to be next.
