The Brother of Moses, Aaron figured prominently in The Old Testament (Bible) telling of The Exodus of The Hebrew People from bondage under The Egyptian Pharaohs. Although much is written about the miraculous Staff of Moses, Aaron too, had a rather amazing “weapon” in his own Rod. The Hebrew Family of Moses were “appointed” Shepherd's of The Tribe of Judea. In clearer terms though, this position was one of religious means and not actually a “Flock Shepherd”. Namely Priests, a “Shepherd's Rod” would have been their “Badge of Office”. Aaron's Rod was cut from AcacIa Wood and bore the springs of the Tree (flowers). They never died and remained in bloom. “Gifted” by God, Aaron's Rod had mysterious power. When sent to Pharaoh by Moses – to demand the release of The Hebrew People from Slavery, Aaron was ordered to show the “Power” of his “God”. The Priest's of Pharaoh had “magical rods” themselves. Throwing them down, they immediately turned into Serpents. Although The Priests were well aware that this was “slight of hand” (or a trick), Aaron too, threw down his Rod – only to turn into a Serpent as well. As the Legend goes, Aaron's “Serpent” swallowed whole the other “Serpents” of The Priests. Still unimpressed, Pharaoh refused the request. Later, Aaron's Rod called down the infamous “Plagues of Egypt” which were credited with “softening” the heart of Pharaoh into releasing The Hebrews. After Aaron's demise, his Rod was placed into the fabled “Ark of The Covenant”, there to remain until another “True Priest” of Israel appeared and opened The Ark.
