Some say "Urban Legend", others - "open to debate". The myth of The "Richmond Vampire", comes from Richmond, Virginia (US), and centers around The Hollywood Cemetery. In particular, the Mausoleum of one Mr. William Wortham Pool. Supposedly "run out" of London, England in the 1780s for the "crime of Vampirism". Emigrating to The American Territory of Mississippi, he is next "seen" in Civil War Virginia (1860s), as an Accounting Clerk. Believers cite the battlefields of Virginia an ample place for "food", no doubt the Vampire Pool had no concerns. Residents of Town noted that, while Pool aged. He did so "more slowly" than normal Men. He would eventually marry and (according to Records), brought into a Tobacco Plantation, renovated it and made his fortune in Post-War Virginia. He died in 1913 and was "buried" in Hollywood Cemetery.

However, our tale flashes forward to 1925, and the building of an area Railway Tunnel. The blasting of rock supposedly "awoke" Pool from his slumbers, only to roam the Countryside seeking his "nourishment". It was reported that the frightening visage of a "ghoulish Beast, with it's skin red and hanging, was seen over the body of a victim in the nearby woods adjacent to Hollywood Cemetery. Reports stated that "The Beast" was none other than William Pool. City Officials opened his Mausoleum and found what one would expect.....the well decomposed remains of Pool. Then, who was "The Beast" It would layer be revealed that during the construction of the Railway Tunnel, a Workers was horribly scalded and ran off into the woods, his skin literally "melting away". It was this horrible visage that was no doubt reported. Nonetheless, City Father's completely sealed Pools Mausoleum interior with concrete, just to be sure!
