Urban Legend or ‘’something else?’’ – The Legend of The Ratman of Southend is ‘’set’’ in The Community of Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. The Story goes back to the 1970s (or later, depending). An old Homeless Man lived at an underpass of a street in Town. Dirty and possibly ‘’disturbed) – no reports of Him being a ‘’danger’’ were made. But one night, a Group of malicious teens found the unfortunate asleep in the underpass and as ‘’sport’’, beat and kicked The Man. Left to die, rats began to gather and – never known to passing up a free ‘’meal’’, began to converge and consume….His face!. His mutilated remains were found by Police and taken away. But since that time, anyone ‘’brave’’ enough to travel thru the underpass – will ‘’hear’’ a ‘’shrieking sound of many rats’’ – when no rodents are present. To make matters worse, the ‘’image of a Homeless Man’’ is often said to be seen in the dark tunnel way. IF He turns around, One will be able to see His ‘’eaten away’’ Face. Having done so, YOU will be the next to die (in some related horrible way). It is said that IF One simply throws money onto the ground in front of The ‘’Ratman’’ (as He is called), and turns quickly to run away, ‘’Ratman’s’’ curse will not affect you.
