The Portage County Chase

Happening in 1966, the chase is said to have been the basis for the famous Police Chase of several UFOs along County roads featured in the 1978 Film Close Encounters of The Third Kind . It began around 5:00 AM on April 17, 1966 The Portage County Sheriff's Department where alerted from numerous phone calls from Residents of strange Objects flying low in the sky . Further the Objects were shining bright and multi-colored lights onto the ground and in some cases bathing houses with light! Multiple Police vehicles responded and as reported, several Football-shaped Objects were seen hovering and flying at various speeds. The Objects would speed up and slow down and the Police Units approached. This Cat and Mouse movement supposedly happened for a span of 85 miles to The Pennsylvania State Border (and were witnessed by Police Units of THAT State as well). The Objects alternated in color (White, Blue, Red and Green) and appeared to not be interested in all the fuss they were causing. After several hours, the chase ended with the Objects flying straight up into the Pennsylvania sky (at a high rate of speed) into Space! All Police Agencies involved filed Official Reports. The Government never responded to their Report and still has not!
