The Pleiku Encounters

The US Navy operated PBR Ships (Patrol Boat Recon), along many of the interior rivers located throughout Vietnam during The War of 1965-1970. Their mission was to seek destroy enemy small shipping attempting to smuggle in arms and munitions. Dangerous work, PBR crews operated both night and day. During the year 1968 however, many PBR Boats reported the sightings of two Saucer-shaped objects in The Pleiku Region of Vietnam. The 2 Craft were always seen together, and always at night. They came in, low from the cloud cover and often followed PBRs during their patrols. It was said that these encounters WERE reported (without any Orders to do anything). Some took photos (which would later be confiscated). The Pleiku Saucers were reported for several months in 1968, before finally just stopping.
