The ‘’Philip Experiment’’ was conducted in 1972, in The City of Toronto, Canada. The general purpose of the experiment was to use a selected Group of Subjects – without any prior history of psychic abilities or ideas about The Paranormal, to ‘’create’’……an actual Spirit from seemingly ‘’nothing’’. The Group created a ‘’backstory’’ for a character They named ‘’Philip’’. A 17th Century Nobleman, He would serve as a Spy for Charles I (King of England) and would eventually be captured by Parliamentarian Forces and executed. Using this ‘’stimuli’’ – The Group began to focus Their mental energies on ‘’creating’’ an actual Spiritual presence. Test (Séance) after Test yielded nothing, until after sometime – The Group began to experience various paranormal activities. From ‘’shaking tables’’ to ‘’cold spots’’ in the room – even some claiming to hear a ‘’spectral voice’’ in Their ‘’head’’. Unfortunately, all tapes (recordings) and photographs of the resulting phenomenon were – lost. Many skeptics state that ‘’Philip’’ could not have manifested because HE was not real (hence not a Spirit). Quasi-believers question the fact that perhaps The Group ‘’invited’’ some form of Poltergeist phenomenon as a result. Still too, if any Members of The Group did have (latent) psychic abilities (unknown) at the time, They may have ‘’actually’’ created a Spirit called ‘’Philip’’. Strangely, One of The Group was an Artist, and She drew what She ‘’saw’’ in Her ‘’Mind’s Eye’’ – the image of a Man who would fit ‘’the bill’’ as a 17th Century Nobleman. Yet Another Case of ‘’What Do You Believe?’’
