The 6-inch in diameter sold Bronze Disc – known as The ‘’Phaistos Disc’’, caused much controversy when discovered in 1908 – near Crete, Greek. And while The Ancient Minoans (of whom are attributed with the manufacturing of The Disc), did in fact work with Bronze, the sophistication and ‘’purity’’ of the alloy defy what would be expected 1,850 BC. The Disc serves no clear cut purpose as to ‘’what’’ it was used for. Covered (front and back) in a series of common Minoan Figures, some Scholars state that The Disc may be a form of ‘’Rosetta Stone’’ or Primer for The Minoan Language. Others cite, it is a form of ‘’Image Calendar’’, which when used – would accurately plot astrological placements of Planets. Yet more, cite The Disc is a Hoax. With much debate (still), the unusual artifact is still studied an
d displayed in a Greek Museum today.
