The name of "Patience Worth", is well known by studies of The Paranormal. The Case garnered worldwide attention in the early 20th Century. Two split "camps" concerning "The Strange Case of Patience Worth" - exist even today. You can judge for yourself. As we have seen, The Ouija Board was at first a popular "Parlor Game", that many played. Eerie and entertaining, it fit in well with the Era's zeal over all things "Supernatural". Into this Cultural phenomenon, comes one Pearl Lenore Curran (or Mrs. John Curran, as she preferred to be addressed). A somewhat educated Woman in a time when Women were looked upon as "second-class" Citizens in most Countries, Curran became quite good at using The Ouija Board. Get friends would regularly have her "contact" deceased former friends and Family members. One day, in 1916 - Curran was "contacted" by an "Entity", which identified itself as "Patience Worth". According to the "Entity", she was born in 1649 in England, and emigrated to The Colony of Massachusetts. In 1684, she was killed in an attack by Native Americans.

What was odd about the "contact", was that Mrs. Curran's voice and accent dramatically changed. She used words and phrases that were unmistakably associated with "someone" who had "lived" in the 17th Century! The "Entity" began to relate great details about early Colonial life. Further, "Patience" began to serve as "Guide" for Mrs. Curran's "psychic contacts" with other "Spirits". Skeptics naturally pounced and tried all manner of tricks and schemes to debunk Mrs. Curran. Some even said (much later in time), that Mrs. Curran "suffered" from MDPD (Multiple Dissociative Personality Disorder). However, nothing done really prove or disprove her Case. It was noted, that after the death of Curran's husband, she began to charge up to $400.00 per "psychic session" (as a way to generate income). Curran even began to "write" and publish books, poem and even songs - all allegedly composed by "Patience Worth". Curran made a lot of money. With Mrs.Curran's death, "Patience" supposedly "died" as well. However, several Psychics and self-professed Mediums, have "claimed" to have contacted Patience. "She" has been the subject of fictional books and of course, Horror Movies! Apparently, "Patience Worth" is STILL making money!
