This creepy legend is also from Japan. The Okiku Doll is a normal enough looking little Japanese Girl Doll. Dressed in traditional Kimono and sandals, she has beautiful black hair that has GROWN and requires CUTTING since 1918! Said to have belonged to a little girl who was tragically killed, her Spirit took up residence inside the Doll (named for her). The Doll is possessive of it Owners . Said to possess them, the problem got so bad that in 1938, Okiku was given to Buddhist Priests. They placed Okiku into a protective Shrine and make the customary prayers to keep her Spirit inside the Doll. They also dutifully cut her hair yearly.
