The Nimrud ''Lens''

Discovered in 1850 near Nimrud, Iraq – The ‘’Nimrud Lens’’ challenges Our ‘’understanding’’ of what We consider ‘’Modern Technology’’. The ‘’Lens’’ is actually a piece of polished glass (slightly conical) with a variable thickness. In short, The Lens is a magnifying glass or even perhaps part of a set of eyeglasses. What is more unusual however, is that The Lens was crafted in the 7^th Century BC! Most Historians and Archaeologists place the ‘’real purpose’’ of The Nimrud Lens as part of some much larger Device, possibly even used in Astronomy. Despite it’s proven age, some still discount The Lens as a 19^th Century fake. Perhaps……..
