‘’Night of The Lepus’’ was typical 1972 Drive-In Movie Fare. Ridiculous special effects coupled with well known Actors speaking ‘’bad lines’’, regardless – The Film gained a Cult following, more so for when it was made. At the time, Ecological disasters were being recorded at record numbers. Human Pollution, Nuclear Waste and plethora of hazards would set the stage for many of the concerns of Our Era. Such Movies spoke to these fears, that in just a short 20 or more years – The Planet would become badly damaged for ALL Life. The Plot was simple, destruction of natural Predators in a Southwestern Cattle Farm, lead to the over reproduction of wild Rabbits. Eating crops and thus depriving livestock of food, a ‘’new method’’ of reproduction control (chemical) is used. The result, rather than killing off the pesty Rabbits, they grow to monstrous proportions. As an added benefit, The Lepus also are carnivorous. Thousands of the giant Langomorphs run rampant in The Desert. In the end, Science (again) finds a way (electrocution traps set up in deep mines). The Earth is saved…..For Now! So Bad, it’s Good!
