In another ''Ghost Ship'' Tale, The Schooner ''Carroll A. Deering'' was built in 1919 as a commercial vessel for goods transport. Ported out of The State of Maine (US), The ''Deering'' set sail in 1920 for South America. (11) Crewmen were listed. The Ship mysteriously vanished and was not found for 1 year (1921), floating derelict. The ''Deering'' used a course which put it near the infamous ''Bermuda Triangle''. When boarded, no signs of The Crew or evidence of a struggle were found. The Crew simply vanished. But the overall condition of a Ship which had been floating for a year was also strange. It appeared to have just been built. The most common explanation was that ''Deering'' had fallen prey to Pirates, but they would have no doubt stolen or sunk the Ship. It does not explain the overall condition of The Ship. The Case would attract another ''piece of the puzzle'', when in late 1921 – a Fisherman ''found'' a ''message in a bottle'' – reputed to be from ''someone'' on The ''Deering''. The cryptic note alluded to The Ship being ''taken'' (unknown source), with The Crew handcuffed and later murdered. However, no real proof could be offered on the authenticity of the Letter. In later years, the 1950s, many Ships (Cruise and other Classes), reported ''seeing'' the ''Ghostly'' Ship ''Deering'' drifting in the open ocean (despite the fact She was wrecked in 1922).
