The ''Mothership'' of New York City

Many strange Crafts and phenomenon have been reported in late 19th and early 20th Century America. These reports form the bulk of what was to become known as The ''Great Mystery Airships'' and later ''Scareships''. But on April 13th of 1879, thousands of New York City Residents reported seeing a massive Craft, later called ''The Mothership''. For nearly 3-hours, this immense Ship, described as a ''Disc-shaped Object'', ''hovered'' over New York City to the delight and even terror of some. The Craft was said to slowly ''spin in rotation''. After the 3-hours, The Craft left ''at a great speed''. The Event was reported in local Newspapers and even became a National story. The ''official'' explanation of The Era, was that New York City Resident's ''saw'' Brorsen's Comet an astronomical body ''streaking though the sky''. Of course this explanation was decried by the thousands of witnesses. It would remain so for years until, as with most early sightings The Event ''faded'' from Public perception.
