1957s most ''unusual'' (and cheaper) Monster Movie forays – ''The Monolith Monsters'' is a Black and White Sci-Fi/Horror Film – dealing with a mysterious meteorite that crashes into The Earth (out in The Desert of The US Southwest). The fragments of which (black, glassy pieces) – begin to ''grow'' to massive sized crystals that break off – falling to the ground to allow more of ''them'' to grow (intelligent crystals!). To make maters worse, the ''fast moving'' Crystals – if the ''touch'' Humans, causes them to become petrified! Obviously, The Military ''blowing up'' the Invaders would do nothing but advance their Race and hasten them ''taking over'' The Earth.

Scientists determine that salt water causes The Crystals to break down (and die). In a last ditch effort to stop the advance of The Crystals, a nearby Dam is treated with Salt and exploded. This destroyed nearby Cities, but ''drowns'' The ''Rock Monsters''. End of Story.

The Cast was made up of famous (or would be) Stars, such as William Schallert, Troy Donahue and the ''Voice'' of many Walt Disney ventures – Paul Frees. While seen as ''luke warm'' in Critic reviews (then), the special effects were somewhat clever (as was the premise). A ''Drive-In'' staple, ''The Monolith Monsters'' is worth a quick view (at just over 70-minutes long).
