As we have read, a period of strange sightings occurred over the World, known as "The Great Airship Sightings". Years before the advent of man-made "flight", even balloon flight technology could even come close to the descriptions and reported maneuvers of these "Mystery Airships". The two best known cases of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries were "The Scareships" and of course, "The Aurora Crash". But another incident happened in 1865 that was reported and even "speculated" at by then Scientists. It was known as "The Missouri Airship".

On October 19, 1865, a Hunter in The Great Falls Region of the Upper Missouri River, stated that at sunrise, a "marvelous heavenly body", was seen moving fast in the skies over his position. As the Object entered a cloud bank, there was a sudden explosion. He noted "great flames erupt" from the cloud and trails od debris begin to descend from the cloud to the ground below. Next The Hunter stated a larger "ball of flame" began to fall rapidly to the Earth, followed by a tremendous explosion that rocked the ground. Estimating the "crash" at 2-miles away, he proceeded to that location.

As he got closer he noted the heavy smell of sulfur in the air as well as strange debris littering the ground. The Hunter described the pieces as both "glass-like" and "grey, rock-like substance". He noticed "strange writings on some of the larger pieces" and a strange "liquid-like" substance coating some. Finding a large "ship-like" Object stuck into the nearby foothill. Amazed, he surveyed the area for a few miles more before going back to Town to report the incident. History shows the incident written about in local Newspapers, but no information as to IF anyone else surveyed the crash site or collected evidence. Local "Scientists" were quoted as saying that "Alien Races visiting our Planet, could no doubt harness Meteors as a type of "flight". Perhaps the evidence of the Crash still may rest under several inches of ground, just waiting for discovery. The problem is that the exact location has been lost.
