In another strange tale of Demonic Possession, comes Noblewoman Mette Hardenberg. A Danish Citizen of Family wealth, She lived in the early 17th Century. Well educated and having ''married within Her Station'', Mette began to ''believe'', that ''The Devil'' had possessed Her body. She would act ''strange'', speaking in long ancient and unspoken languages for hours (and then having no memory od doing so). Mette even said that She could ''float in the air'' (although this was never seen). So concerned for her Soul, Mette devised a method of contrition. She would dress as a beggar (Vagrant), and wander thru Town soliciting alms, food etc. At first, many did not recognize Mette. But later, when She ''was'' – most thought She had simply ''gone mad''. Her Husband took great steps to treat Mette. Byt nothing seemed to work, save Her ''adoption of a poor person'' (which, Mette stated – stopped Her ''supernatural abilities''). Upon Her death in 1629, Mette was buried in a pauper's grave (as was Her wish), to ensure Her Soul would ''not be snatched by The Devil in death''.
