As with the previously discussed ''Min Min Lights'' of Australia – The ''Marfa Lights'' are just as mysterious and unexplained. Since the 1840s, American Settlers to The Marfa Region of Texas (US), have ''seen and reported'' the ''strange phenomenon''. Regardless of day or night, regardless of weather conditions – the ''lights'' can be seen. They appear at intervals, but without any timed pattern. Sometimes, 1 – perhaps 3 and as many as 12 have been seen. The ''Lights'' have been examined by all forms of light measuring devices and sophisticated cameras. They ''behave'' the same each time. Geologists state that the Region has an abundance of tectonic plate (Earth crust) activity which is ''said'' to be reacting to the heating of the grounds. This causes the otherwise unexplained phenomenon (or so it it said). But of course, the Legends of local Native American Apache Tribes are more colorful. It is told in their myths, of a great Warrior Chief. When Texas became a Republic from Mexico, The Warchief launched raids deep into Mexico, raiding Villages for food and goods. Local Mexican Forces could not catch either Him or His Warriors (and The United States at the time had no issues with The Apache). This went on for many years. Finally, a Mexican ambush was successful and The Warchief was captured. He was executed most cruelly in front of His Tribe as a warning. But before He died, He cursed The Mexicans, stating that ''He and His Warriors who had gone on before, would still make their presence known and continue to attack Mexico''. Many Apaches feel The Lights are The Warchief's ''promise made good''.
