The Mares of Diomedes

 From Greek Mythology, The Mares were 4 Man Eating horses that belonged to King Diomedes (Thrace). They were huge beast that could not be controlled (The King having them chained on an Island Argos). However, them they had their fill of flesh they were calmer. The Hero Hercules had to deal with The Mares as part of his Labors . Said to have been offered up to Zeus as an offering (which he refused) it was he that sent blessed Bears and Wolves to destroy The Mares.
