Long rumored of for Centuries, the "Legend" of The "Lost" Continent of Atlantis, has sparked Man's imagination in song and story. Many feel that "Atlantis" is allegory written to illustrate an idea or concept. Others point to many actual historical examples and alleged evidence. Regardless of IF you believe in the stories or not, The Case of Atlantis is as "probable" and intriguing as any. The traditional account for "The Kingdom of Atlantis", comes from Greek Philosopher and Historian Plato. Atlantis appeared in three of his writings. The first two "Timaeus" and "Critias", were written in 360 BC. "Timaeus" deals with Man's place in a Physical World. And how The Atlanteans were ''Masters'' at controlling Nature in all it's forms. The second work "Critias" deals with the exact location of Atlantis and of The War between The City State of Athens and Atlantis. Later, Plato touched upon Atlantis again in his work "Republic" (380 BC).

Said to be "beyond The Pillars of Hercules" (which may be The Straits of Gibraltar), the farmed "Continent" was said to be "larger than Asia and Africa combined. Atlantis was a series of concentric circular lands masses or rings, totaling 3. Claiming to be 40- miles in distance from each successive ring to the next. A series of massive Walls were built on each of these rings. Huge openings were built into various sections of the Rings which lead to the Central Island and Port of Atlantis. This Central Island was constructed from White, Red and Brown Marble. Structures and Buildings were built on a "fantastic scale". An unknown form of "illumination" bathed The City at night. The Atlantaens were divided into two Classes (Scientists and Warriors). The Warriors were said to possess incredible weapons, capable of destroying a City in a single blow.

The Atlantaens were said to have established Colonies throughout the Ancient World. Possibly even Egypt, Central and South America were "Vassals". Plato says that The Atlanteans wanted to conquer the City State of Athens. Due to a series of miscalculations, their War failed. What happened next is a matter of conjecture. The Atlanteans claimed to be descended from The Gods. These Gods still visited them regularly in great "Sky Ships". This did nothing to stop what happened next. Perhaps a Civil War erupted. Perhaps it was natural. Whatever it was, Atlantis literally exploded and took three days to sink below the Sea.

For Centuries after, the site of Atlantis has been conjectured at. Most Coastal Countries claim a connection. Some more probable locations include the Island of Santorini (off the Coast of Crete). An "advanced Culture", it was completely destroyed by possibly the largest volcanic eruption in History in the 1st Century BC. The Atlantic Ocean (often thought named after the legend), is likewise filled with islands some claim are submerged "mountain tops of Atlantis. This brings us to early 20th Century Psychic, Edgar Cayce. Called "The Sleeping Prophet", he would go into deep trances and reveal "Lost Knowledge". Much of his "visions" centered on Atlantis. These insights helped discover a series of mysterious 3,000 years old man-made Roads, submerged off of Bimini Island (South Atlantic). The island civilization did not build it, who did?

This also links with the stories of the infamous Bermuda Triangle. Long a site for mysterious disappearances of Planes and Ships for Centuries, the unusual electro-magnetic readings and strange phenomenon have long been linked to the former Atlantis. Regards IF such a place as Atlantis did or did not exist is irrelevant. It's "Legend" will endure for many more Centuries to come.
