The Kukuoka Incident

This strange phenomenon was witnesses by a Military F-61 Fighter and documented on Radar. On October 15, 1948, US Military Radar in Japan, picked up a large Object flying high over Kukuoka, Japan. Estimated at 25,000 feet, a nearby Fighter was alerted to investigate the contact. After 10-minutes, Pilots stated that they saw a long glowing White Cigar-shaped Object some 8,000 feet above them. The Object appeared to be continuing it's ascent. Radar still confirmed that they had contact with the Object. Without clearance to intercept - the F-61 maintained visual. The Object continued it's climb into what was reckoned as Space . An report was filed (with a gun camera photo) of the Object. No formal explanation was ever given.
