1959 may be remembered by some for many things, but the Black & White ''Horror'' Film ''The Killer Shrews'' is not one of them. A ''giant'' among ''B''-Movie Classics, the film was an independently made and filmed Production, filmed entirely outside of Dallas, Texas (US). Bad acting and most of all – silly Shrew Puppets that look exactly like their description – ''Shrew Puppets'' (incidentally, a shrew is a Mole-like Mammal). The Plot centers around a remote island, in which a Doctor is experimenting to find a way to save future humanity from over population and a dwindling food source. He feels that if Man were but smaller, He would consume less food. The good Doc picks Shrews as His test subjects (due to their short life span). However, His testing involves radiation and – as you can guess, The Shrews become much larger and very ravenous. So much so, they eat everything and everybody. By the end of the Feature, only a few of the island dwellers escape this ''gnawing'' fate. It is thought that (if lucky) The Shrews will run out of food sources and begin to eat themselves (really). Seen as a flop, in time – The Killer Shrews somehow made it to Cult status. A sequel (why?) made in 2012 (and equally silly), was made. Beware The Killer Shrew Puppets!
