The John Barclay Case

1897. A ''popular'' year for reports regarding the strange phenomenon known as ''Airships''. Many corners of The World around that time reported such encounters (of varying sizes, overall shape and even ''physical'' contact). And while Airships did in fact exist – none of those forms of transportation match the technology of what some reported to have ''seen and touched''. Just prior to the famed United States ''Crash'' of such a Craft (and recovered ''Alien'') in Aurora Texas, West Texas Hunter John Barclay would relate to Newspapers of ''His encounter'' on April 21st, 1897. Asleep in His Cabin, Barclay's dogs began to howl, as if they were ''reacting to some thing only they could hear''. He grabbed His shotgun and proceeded outside. Walking over a small rise, Barclay ''saw'' as ''strange Airship'' hovering just several hundred feet off of The Mesa (prairie). The Object was described as a ''Long, but flattened Craft, with what looked like wings on it's side''. Barclay further stated in His interview, that ''many strange poles and wires extended from the Craft''. The overall color was ''between Silver and White''. Barclay stated that other than a slight ''humming noise'', no other sounds were heard. The Craft slowly landed and from it's ''bottom'', came a ''Man''. The Man was dressed in a pair of ''silvery overalls''. ''He'' spoke English, but ''slightly different''. Barclay asked ''The Man'' His name. The Subject only said ''Call It Smith''. The ''Person'' asked Barclay if He ''could help them with some repairs''. ''Smith'' handed Barclay a contemporary $10 (USD) currency note and gave him a ''verbal list of articles to buy''. The items were Lubricating Oil, several Chisels and Bluestone (a type of porous natural stone, common in The American West''. Barclay did as He was asked.

When He returned, ''Smith'' said that ''They would come back one day.'' Barclay asked ''where they came from?'' ''Smith'' just smiled and said ''They were from everywhere, both Here and Then''. Barclay thought the response strange. After 30-minutes, ''Smith'' bade Barclay goodbye. The Airship once again lifted off the ground (again with no noise), and slowly rise into the sky, higher and higher until it disappeared. While some say Barclay was just ''cashing in'' on the contemporary hysteria regarding ''Airships'', He was well known for NOT being a ''story teller''. The report has several unusual and glaring items to note. One, ''Smith'' refers to ''himself'' as ''It''. Perhaps ''Smith'' was really a cybernetic organism ''crafted'' by ''Others'' to better 'explore'' Earth. Also, ''Smith'' seems to identify ''His'' Craft as being able to Time Travel or at the very least access Human History and locations via Inter-dimensional ''flight''. Still, Barclay could be a ''whale of a tale''......or a ''simple Man's explanation'' to an encounter with ''something'' that cannot BE explained.
