Originally a 1957 William Castle (whom we've discussed earlier) production, he (as an ex-Carnival Show Owner), capitalized on cheap scare and thrill tactics on his audiences. Using the well known Actor Vincent Price, Castle tells the story of a Party which brings a group of people from different walks of life together for an overnight gathering. All the group do however share one thing in common they desperately need money. The catch is that the House that they have gathered in is haunted and they must all survive the night until morning (upon which they will all if they live, earn their money). The Party is actually a ruse for Price (a very rich man) to kill his much younger, cheating wife. Price used terror tactics to scare her to death! A 1999 remake of the classic schlock film was by far more darker, bloodier and supernaturally based. This version centered around a haunted Insane Asylum from the 1930s (with real demons and terrors) attacking the unwitting Guests. The remake is HIGHLY recommended for true fans of the Fright genre!
