A ‘’quaint’’ bit of Horror from New Brunswick, Canada – ‘’The Tale of The Headless Nun’’ has several origins. The first and most popular, deals with a group of 17th Century Pirates who learned that a local Abbey was chocked full of gold and valuables. Attacking The Closter, They slaughtered everyone save one Sister. Refusing to surrender the location of the treasure, The Pirates lopped off Her head!. Unable to find the valuables, the Cutthroats burned down The Abbey. It bis said that the now ‘’Headless Nun’’ wanders the night in search of Her head. Th other grisly tale is similar, in that a French Trapper was angry when he thought a Closter had cheated Him out of what was owed to Him for providing fur pelts. He showed up one night and chopped off the head of The Mother Superior and ran off into the woods. ‘’She’’ too spends all Eternity wandering the Region in search of Hers as well. In this version, should One ‘’see’ The Headless Nun, it is a forewarning of One’s impending death.
